L is for Love

Acrylic Paint, Found Words, Ballpoint Pen, Red Fabric

I really  love this piece. It is one of my favorite collages and it is also one of my oldest. I created this in 2008 while I was still in high school but the composition and relevancy has aged well. I started this mixed media image by color blocking blue and green paint. I liked the haphazard effect. The rest was inspired by the found image of the girl with flowers. I think she was originally from a sketchers advertisement by I appropirated her to represent the teen girls search for love.

The petals were the final touch and I feel they give a lot of movement to the work. Its quite small only  6″ x 4″ on watercolor paper. I use it as a jumping point for a lot of my later work because I felt it was so successful. Its still hanging up in my house today.
